A Child's Plea
Set an example for me, Grandpa.
Show me unconditional love so I may love others unconditionally.
Set an example for me, Grandma.
Let the family bask in the light of your bright and shining love for Jesus.
Set an example for me, Dad.
Teach me that the tough shell of a man may contain gentleness and kindness.
Set an example for me, Mom.
I see your selfless devotion to your family.
Set an example for me, big brother.
Watch over me so that I may learn to protect and defend the weak.
Set an example for me, sister.
I will learn to respect the blossom of womanhood.
Set an example, family, for God’s youngest lambs to see.
Our eyes are on you all the day; lead us down the narrow way.

This is very nice! Thanks.
Thanks for your comment, it's always good to hear from people.
Gen 9:6... that's an interesting one. However, Jesus was by his very nature, God incarnate - not just made in his image... yet his cry from the cross was for the Father to forgive... not avenge. Now obviousl;y, Jesus died for a specific purpose - the atonement and salvation of mankind. However, I believe we are called to be imitators of Christ and as such should share the same attitude. Interestingly, Stephen the first Christian martyr echoed Jesus sentiment and the last thing he said was a petition to God, not to hold the sin of his murder against the people.
Paul himself was rumoured to have been a Christian killer and yet he became the fiercest apologist for Christendom.
It's clearly a heavy subject... but I do not believe that I in all good conscience could not pull the trigger on someone or send them to their death. I do not believe someone should be a proponent of capital punishment unless they are personally willing to carry out executions. I imagine it's easier to kill someone with a word from 3,000 miles away than it is to take their life in person.
Heavy stuff to think about... but thanks once again for the comment.
God bless

I was surfing over at blogadvance.com and I saw your banner!
It's been said many times that we are the only Bible that many people read. Your poem rings true to that saying.
If only they would be a role model. Here from BV Carnival.
